The mechanism

The chart shows two lines over a year. The dashed "expected" line is the growing pipeline the founder thought they were buying. The red "actual" line stays flat, even dipping. The shaded gap is the spend and time that kept piling up while the pipeline didn't move, because the money went to the wrong kind of help before anyone diagnosed the real bottleneck.
