The mechanism

Two lines share the same starting point on the left. The green line climbs as you rewrite and polish - it shows how clear and impressive your own skills sound, and it feels like progress. The red line drifts down - it shows how much the buyer sees their own problem in your words. The shaded gap between them is labeled Impressive, and not for me. People buy when they see their own situation described, not when they admire how good you are.
