The Sprawl Chain
Trying too many scattered tactics is not the real problem - weak positioning further up the chain is what causes it.

The mechanism
Five boxes run left to right in a chain: weak positioning, can't say who you're for, can't say no, scattered effort, and flat growth. One arrow points down at the first box marked fix the positioning, the only upstream fix, while a dotted arrow points at the fourth box marked cut the tactics, with a red loop showing the scattered effort growing right back. Cutting tactics treats the symptom, so the mess returns. Fix who you're for at the start and the scattered work falls away on its own.
Part of Positioning. Who you are for and why you are the obvious choice.
