The mechanism

The chart stacks two timelines that both run from first awareness to purchase. The top one, a $500 product, is a short line with one 'Ad' box in the middle. The bottom one, a $50,000 engagement, is a long line filled with steps - content, website, case studies, a referral, a sales call. The spot where the paid ad drops you is early, and everything after it has to be built, not bought. The higher the price, the longer the bridge of trust the buyer needs before saying yes.
