The mechanism

The chart is a set of rising bars, like a staircase built from the bottom up. The bottom steps are pricing and clear positioning; the top step is sales hires and tactics, where most founders start spending. An arrow up the side shows the order you should actually build in. If you build on a top step while a lower one is still missing, everything above it falls apart.
