The mechanism

The chart plots founder hours needed across three deal stages - lead, scope, and close. The bespoke line climbs higher at every stage and is steepest right at the close. The productized line stays nearly flat, because the packaged structure carries the work instead of a person. The gap between them is widest at close: if only the founder can quote it, only the founder can sell it.
