The mechanism
The chart is a two-column table. The left column, the proposal, exists to persuade - it holds the value case, the scope, the price, and is written to be easy to say yes to. The right column, the agreement, exists to protect - it covers how the work ends, who owns it, and what happens with late pay, written to be exact. The red row at the bottom shows the mistake each makes when combined: legal exit clauses in a proposal signal distrust before trust exists, and vague promises in an agreement can't be enforced.
